Hudson Technologies Europe S.r.l. deals with the management of the waste disposal coming from cooling circuits and fire-fighting equipment at its treatment plant located in Avezzano. The rules require that the transfer should be done with the Waste Identification Form (a facsimile can be downloaded in the section Download) and the Sistri sheet.
Following are some indispensable information for the compilation of such documents.
The waste refrigerants are normally identified by the EWC 14.06.01* (Chlorofluorocarbons, HCFCs, HFCs), while other fluorinated gases and extinguishing agents are identified by the EWC 16.05.04* (Gases in pressurized containers, including Halon, containing dangerous substances). For both EWCs the physical state is encoded with the number 4 (liquid). The extinguishing gases, also, are usually pressurized with nitrogen and contained in a fixed shutdown system or in common fire extinguishers.
To complete the Sistri sheet and the Waste Identification Form must also note the UN Number and specify the reference to the substance contained. For example, in the case of HCFC22 (known as R-22) can be inserted alternately the following references.
UN 1018 WASTE CHLORODIFLUOROMETHANE (REFRIGERANT GAS R22), 2.2 (C/E) for the 14.06.01*
UN 1018 WASTE CHLORODIFLUOROMETHANE (REFRIGERANT GAS R22), 2.2 (C/E) - Transport according to 220.127.116.11; for 16.05.04* (where we consider also as waste the cylinder with expired testing)
If, however, the nitrogen was present in the cylinders, the following notes may be mentioned.
UN 1058 WASTE LIQUEFIED GAS, 2.2, (C/E)
UN 1058 WASTE LIQUEFIED GAS, 2.2, (C/E) - Transport according to 18.104.22.168 (if the cylinder testing is expired)
